How Does VersaCheck Silver Compare?
G7 Productivity Systems is a leading manufacturer of business productivity software and supplies. Their check creation program VersaCheck comes in four versions: Silver, Gold, Platinum and Ultimate. VersaCheck Silver is for personal use, with the other versions offering business tools. With VersaCheck Silver you can design and print custom checks using a great variety of check design features, monitor your bank accounts, and manage personal finances.
VersaCheck automatically prints all the check elements required by US or Canada banks, such as your bank's code number (includes your account number), your bank's name and address, your address and sequential check numbers. You can also add your own scanned signature on your checks with TrueSign, Versacheck's secure eSignature creator and manager. Checks can be printed from Quicken, Quickbooks and Microsoft Money.
The program's user-friendly interface makes creating custom checks easy. You just need to type in custom information, insert any graphics or logos, and print. Over 20 designer templates are available and you can add your personal touch with photographs (family, pets) or scenic pictures as a background. There are over 300 hand-crafted check images included with VersaCheck Silver and you can also import images from clip art.
The Standard Check Designer feature allows you to make changes such as font or color, and the Professional Check Designer feature allows you to create and edit every aspect of the check. It's possible to make changes and print new checks whenever needed. You can create checks as well as deposit slips for all banks where you hold a checking account.
You can easily set up your bank accounts within the VersaCheck program with a three-step wizard, after which you can manage your transactions. There's also a Reconcile wizard to help you reconcile your accounts against bank statements. The Bill/Scheduled Transaction feature sets up a future one-time payment or recurring payments, deposits, etc. The screen will also show pending transactions. You can also set up categories and sub-categories which allow you to track expenditures, deposits, and other transactions and are important for generating useful reports, sorting account transactions, and accurately tracking spending.
VersaCheck Silver has an Address Book which lists the name and information of each of your payees. The Notepad feature allows you to enter notes on the payees.
iVersaCheck is a great feature which allows you to send and receive check payments online. There's an option you can set which advises you of new online checks as soon as they're received in the iVersaCheck delivery system, or you can set a specific interval for how often the program should search for new checks.
Both text and graphic financial reports can be generated for items such as cash flow, transactions, net worth, and account balances in VersaCheck.
VersaCheck provides backup options for protecting your financial data. An automatic pop-up box upon closing the program prompts you to back up data. Otherwise, you can select how often the program should create a backup - the default is set to each time the application is closed, but you can also select on demand or according to a specific backup schedule.
To use the program you'll need an inkjet or laser printer, check stock and a MICR toner cartridge. You can also purchase G7's VersaJette M300 printer which prints in color and has the magnetic ink required for 100% bank compliant checks. (The VersaJette costs an additional $40 if you buy it at the same time as VersaCheck Silver).
VersaCheck Silver includes 150 blank checks and deposit slips as well as unlimited free phone support from VersaCheck experts.
Another comparable check design software is Avanquest's Checksoft Personal Deluxe, which offers most of the features of VersaCheck except for sending & receiving checks online and the budget feature. Another advantage of VersaCheck is the free phone support. Checksoft does offer free email support but phone support can be expensive. Checksoft is priced lower at $29.95 and offers a large number of background designs - 800. It comes in two other versions: Home & Business and Premier.
