Mint.com is free online money management software. Connecting to over 6,000 US financial institutions, it can track your bank, credit card and investment accounts in one place. It also categorizes transactions so you can keep an eye on your spending habits. Reporting and budgeting tools let you easily see the state of your finances.
Mint.com alerts you by e-mail or text message to any suspect transactions in your accounts. You can also set other alerts i.e. low balances in checking account, too much spending in one area, etc.
But our favourite feature is SpendSpace, where you can compare your spending to other people's spending. It's completely anonymous and being able to compare your finances can potentially help you make better financial decisions. An upcoming enhancement will allow investment performance comparisons too.
