How Does QuickBooks Online Plus Compare?
Internet based accounting software is becoming more and more popular for small business owners who need access to their company financial data from home, at client locations, when travelling (iPhone access), and those who need their employees to have remote access. The main advantages are that there's no software and updates to install, and accounting records can be accessed and worked on from any location with an internet connection.
QuickBooks have provided an online version of their small business accounting product for several years and this latest QuickBooks Online Plus version now provides online banking. There's also an Online Basic product (for $9.95/month) but that version does not include Estimates, Time Tracking, Online Banking and Budgeting; and it only provides 1 user + accountant access (while the Online Plus version offers 3 users + accountant - extra users at additional cost).
QuickBooks Online Plus is a capable online accounting system with an extremely intuitive interface. A step-by-step interview helps you set up your company data in the system. A flowchart walks you through basic accounting functions and tutorials guide you through common tasks. The extensive searchable Help section covers all topics. Technical support is included in the price - an email query should obtain a response within 30 minutes by call back or email.
You will have to pay extra to manage employee payroll and process credit card payments (but first 30 days are free). And at the moment QuickBooks Online Plus does not offer inventory or purchase order management features, or online bill pay. However these are available with the QuickBooks desktop version Pro Edition.
